Dr. Hewitt grew up on Florida's Gulf Coast. He received
his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida
in 1986, and his DVM degree from the same school in
1990. Shortly after graduation, he relocated to Las
Vegas, where he has been ever since.
He has a strong interest in internal medicine, dentistry,
critical care and surgery. He has also been performing
laser surgery since 1998, and is a member of the American
Veterinary Dental Society, the Veterinary Surgical Laser
Society, and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
Society.
Dr. Hewitt shares his life with his wife, Lisa, and
their 12 furry "children," dogs Allie &
ZuZu, and cats Toben, Wooger, Luckie, Yoda, Dash, Alki,
Jack , Cassie, Tippy, and 23 year-old Beebo. In addition
to spending time with his wife, he enjoys playing pool
and riding his Harley.
Dr.
Annette Shaver
Dr. Annette Shaver has been residing
in Las Vegas since 1981, doing her undergraduate studies
at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating in
1985. Her ambition took her to Colorado State University
to attend veterinary school, graduating in 1989. She
has since been solely practicing in Las Vegas. Her love
is with cats and dogs, enjoying both internal medicine
and soft tissue surgery. Other interests include ultrasonography
and behavioral medicine.
On a personal note, she shares her
life with husband Greg (married 19 years), sons Shay
(15) and Zachary (9), and pets Emma (dog, 7), Sly (cat,
2), and Josie (cat, 4 mos.). Her favorite past-time
hobby is being a Parrothead and relaxing to the sounds
of Jimmy Buffet.
Dr.
Kelley DeGroff
Dr. Kelley DeGroff grew up on Kwajalein,
a small island in the South Pacific. At a young age
she declared to her parents, "I want to be a Veterinarian!"
Her love of animals and especially the family pets and
horses helped fuel her ambition.
Dr. DeGroff graduated from the New
Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with a Bachelor
of Science degree in biology. She then attended Colorado
State University where she received her Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine in 1997.
She has been practicing in Las Vegas
for the past 6 years. Her interests include natural
diets, pugs (her pug Frankie is her pride and joy!),
and in her free time she enjoys scuba diving and reading.
Dr.
Kolmstetter
Dr. Kolmstetter has a bachelor's degree
in chemistry and a master's degree in biochemistry and
nutrition. She received her DVM degree in 1991 from
North Carolina State University. She completed a one
year internship at Kansas State University and a two
year residency program at the University of Tennessee
in Avian, Exotic Animal and Zoo Animal Medicine and
Surgery. Dr. Kolmstetter is a member of the Association
of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Reptile and
Amphibian Veterinarians, and the Association of Zoo
and Wildlife Veterinarians.
At Cheyenne West Animal Hospital, Dr. Kolmstetter provides
medical and surgical care for a wide variety of different
species of animals, including birds, ferrets, rabbits,
guinea pigs, chinchillas, other rodents and small mammals,
reptiles, amphibians and fish.
Dr.
Cynthia Lopez
Dr. Lopez graduated from Colorado State
University in 1998. After the sale of their practice
in Pueblo West, Colorado, she and Dr. Mauer (her husband)
returned to the Las Vegas area to practice. Dr. Lopez
previously worked with Dr. Hewitt and Dr. Shaver as
a veterinary technician at Painted Desert Animal Hospital.
Dr. Lopez's interest include acupuncture, endoscopy
and laparascopy. Dr. Lopez and Dr. Mauer are blessed
with a beautiful, out-going 5 year-old daughter, Lauren.
